About Top Dawg

Why we started this

We have coached, scored, umpired, and sat in the stands for a lot of Houston fastpitch. Every fall the same complaints came up in the parking lot: entry fees creeping up, gate fees nobody warned you about, directors who went dark the week of the tournament, and ranking systems nobody could explain to a parent.

Top Dawg Fastpitch is our answer. It is a sanctioning body based in Humble, Texas, built for teams inside the greater Houston area — from Conroe down to League City, Katy over to Baytown. We sanction tournaments, keep the rankings, and make sure every team on the field is insured and eligible. That's the whole job, and we try to do it well.

How we run things

• Fees are posted. Entry fee and gate fee on every event card. If a number changes, it changes before you enter, never after.
• Directors answer. Every event has a named director with a phone number. Schedule changes go to your dashboard and your inbox.
• Points are a sum. The table is on the rankings page. Finish a place, get the points. The championship pays double. That is the entire formula.
• Umpires get paid fairly and on time, because a tournament is only as good as its crew.

The mascot

The gray bulldog with the red spiked collar is there because bulldogs don't quit and don't complain. Same standard we hold our directors to.

Who should sanction with us

Any youth fastpitch team 8U through 18U, Rec through A, that plays in the Houston area. If you are a brand-new rec team looking for your first tournament or an A team filling gaps between national qualifiers, there is a weekend on the schedule for you.
